...that's how my family used to be described by my then four year old son (he's the medium one, baby brother is small, daddy is big and guess who - mommy - is the girl).

You Never Even Called Me By My Name
Last night, while Mason and I were folding clothes on my bed, he asked if he could call me mom instead of mommy. It was one of those sweet moments that you knew was coming, but still took you by surprise. I told him that it was fine, but asked why and he said that some of the boys at school said that mommy was a baby word. He also said those same boys are the ones who get in trouble (I restrained from pointing out the correlation). He's 8, but he's still my baby boy! I did point out that he could call me mom when we were out, but mommy when we were home!
